Why I am a Young Earth Creationist

Why I am a Young Earth Creationist

Coming full circle on this thread, I just wanted to summarize [ briefly, this is not an exhaustive list! ] why I stand where I stand.

Young Earth Creationsit, it’s just a title.

What it really means is I just beleive the Bible. [ our baseline from God ]

I am fully aware of the known literary devices when dealing with hermeneutics. There is allot to this can of worms https://carm.org/bible-literary-techniques

Let’s break this title down. Let’s start with “Creationist”…

Creationist: Creationism is the religious belief that the universe and life originated “from specific acts of divine creation,” as opposed to the scientific conclusion that they came about through natural processes.

So, if you are a believer in Christ, your a Creationist. No harm or confusion in this. Don’t be ashamed of this title, we have evidence that is overwhelming. Life is no accident; we are not just floating in space. There is a point to this existence.

If you read Genesis in context, at face value, it lays out a path of information in sequence that occasionally seems hard to beleive [ today. ] ( Talking snakes, a massive boat, global floods, single mankind language, etc…) Pretty amazing stuff actually.

There does not seem to be any overt literary device to ‘explain it all away’.

Could it mean just what it says? I think so.

There is far too much extra-Biblical evidence to support its statements, assertions and conclusions to just walk away and call it a myth, story or allegory etc… There is a connection between the Genesis narritive & real history that is being suppressed and/or ignored. (I wonder why? [Rhetorical]…)

From incredible global “legends” [ from many ancient cultures ] of a global deluge, giant dragons & sea monsters to multiple fresh tissue samples being found in real fossils today; you can start to see themes and the dots connect nicely. These points only crack the surface.

Recapping some Genesis points:

We have seen evidence for one base woman of all alive today-Mitochondria eve-which supports Genesis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitochondrial_Eve

We only have written records from Mankind from only very recently, which supports Genesis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recorded_history

We have seen that animals can “talk” or at least be taught to mimic talking, which supports Genesis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7ht0a2-OnA

We have secular accounts of men that lived for a very long time, which supports Genesis. https://answersingenesis.org/bible-t…ver-900-years/

We have seen that there are flood legends all over the world from many cultures which supports a global flood, which supports Genesis.http://nwcreation.net/noahlegends.html

We have seen incredible global geologic evidence that supports that a Global Flood happened, which supports Genesis. http://www.icr.org/geological-strata/

We see that people clearly walked and saw “dinosaurs”, and still do [ just extinct creatures ] which supports Genesis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6GiNQvugn0

We have seen Jesus supported Genesis. http://biblehub.com/john/5-46.htm

We have seen Moses supported Genesis http://creation.com/did-moses-really-write-genesis

And we have seen that many “real” scientists support Genesis and see it in the real world! http://creation.com/creation-scientists

I find it quite interesting that the most attacked [ and hated ] view of earths & mans history is the Bibles.

Why do think this is?

This is no mere coincidence.

We don’t have to be ashamed or afraid that the Bible is wrong, it is not.

It is a most exhilarating thing to realize that scripture is telling you the true truth in all it says.

I have tried to showcase in this thread that you can trust your Bible in all matters, not just the moral areas, but the historical areas as well.

*But I will add that believeing this is not required for you to be saved. The Gospel stands alone, in its power to save lost men [ and women ]. If you believe anything, believe the Gospel.

But knowing that it’s true from start to finish is an amazing boost to faith.

God has not left us alone to drift in cold deep space, but has shown us where we came from, what happened and all we need to find Him and ourselves.

Why Wouldn’t God….

Why wouldn’t God ( Who Clearly Loves us …Romans 8 among many other verses) not want to leave a clear, understandable record of our origins and condition [Genesis] ?

But a mist used to rise from the earth and water the whole surface of the ground. 7Then the LORDGod formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 8The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.…Gen 2

Genesis—Myth or History?

Genesis—Myth or History?

Genesis—Myth or History?

by Ken Ham on January 24, 2017

It’s becoming increasingly popular among many Christians to claim that Old Testament characters, especially Adam and Eve, and events such as the worldwide Flood weren’t literal people or historical events. They claim they were just figures or stories created to teach some kind of theological lesson. But does biblical revelation support this position?

Well, the writers of the New Testament, or those whose words are recorded in it, certainly wouldn’t agree with these Christians. Paul, writing by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, clearly speaks against biological evolution and the idea of a nonliteral Adam and Eve when he states,

For Adam was formed first, then Eve. (1 Timothy 2:13)
In 1 Corinthians he again confirms the Genesis account of Eve being made from Adam:

For man is not from woman, but woman from man. (1 Corinthians 11:8)
The New Testament writer Jude, in his short epistle, lists Adam as an historical individual:

Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam. (Jude 14)
Others claim that the account of Noah and the Flood is not history but was borrowed from ancient Near Eastern cultures to teach a theological truth about God. But if that’s true then the Apostle Peter, the author of Hebrews, and Jesus Christ—the Creator God in the flesh!—all lied because they taught that Noah was a historical individual and that the Flood really happened (Matthew 24:37; Hebrews 11:7; 2 Peter 3:5–7).

If Genesis is myth then the gospel—as it’s foreshadowed in Genesis 3:15 and 21—is myth also. The gospel is founded in Genesis and grounded in a literal Adam who literally sinned and brought literal death into creation as the penalty for sin. If Noah is a myth, then so are all those listed in Hebrews 11, such as Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, and others. Genesis is literal history!

You can learn more about the importance and relevance of a literal Genesis in my DVD presentation Relevance of Genesis, part of The Foundations collection. You can find this DVD and the whole collection at our online store. Many churches are using this DVD set (12 30-minute videos with teacher and student guides) as their foundational apologetics curriculum for young people and adults! And we’re getting rave reviews from churches.

Snakes with Legs?

I am going do do a little digging on snakes that I have stumbled upon.

I would love others thoughts on it, but it would be helpful if you read each article and the one video as it puts us on the same page information wise. There MIGHT be something neat here, I am not sure yet.

I post it not to assert that this is the truth, only that it seems that there may be a connection to Genesis & science.

Allow me to develop the thought over the next several days. I will post each link as I read them and perhaps some might like to follow along. If my hunch proves incorrect, good.

PS The mission here is to not have a fight but to do research and dig and search for truth. Ok? God tells us that if we seek, we will find.

PSS. I don’t see this as a vain attempt to know all about every detail of scripture; but simply to look deeper into what we do know and wonder about what we don’t. I don’t think God minds that we wonder about Him, our history or the scriptures. If we come with an open mind and heart, perhaps, He can show us wonders!

In the book of Genesis, Chapter 3 we find this story….for the purpose of this post, we are looking at verse 14

8They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” 11And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” 13Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”14

The LORD God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life

15And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”

Ok read this short article from AIG.

Now, check out his article, watch the brief little video…it’s important

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-w…ost-their-legs >>>”Sonic hedgehog”

>>> SNIP >>>Snakes used to wander the Earth on legs about 150 million years ago, before they shifted from strut to slither. Now, two scientists have pinpointed the genetic process that caused snakes to lose their legs. What’s more, they say the “molecular machinery” for leg development still persists in snakes after these millions of years — it’s simply switched off. <<<

snip >>>
Two studies pinpoint a stretch of DNA that could explain how snakes evolved from four-limbed animals.A team led by Len Pennacchio and Axel Visel at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California analysed the ZRS DNA sequence — which regulates a key limb-development gene called Sonic hedgehog (SHH) in a range of animals — in the genomes of various snakes. The authors found that snakes’ ZRS sequence differs markedly from that of other vertebrates. Mice in which the ZRS had been replaced by the cobra or python version did not express SHH in their developing limbs and were born with stumps instead of legs.
In a separate study, Francisca Leal and Martin Cohn at the University of Florida in Gainesville identified a series of deletions in the ZRS common to several snake species, but not seen in limbed vertebrates. In experiments in mice and cell culture, these mutations reduced the activity of the ZRS. <<<

So…..if you watched the above video, here it is again its only two minutes long… >>> http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-w…ost-their-legs

Evolutionists seem to see evidence that snakes once had legs, but LOST them! Where have we heard this before?
Appears that they see a genetic circuit that controls limb development. Umm, very interesting.

Do you see where this may be heading?

They seemed to have discovered a “break” in the circuit… the switch has been shut off.

Perhaps God Himself is responsible for this “break”….way back at the time of Genesis….thus… as it is written…

The LORD God said to the serpent,

“Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life;

Truth? I don’t know, I am just connecting dots…
There is still more to this story…

Here’s another piece of the puzzle… snakes with four legs? >>>

>>>The fossil record shows that over the last four million years Australia has been home to the world’s largest lizards, including a five meter giant called Megalania (Varanus prisca). Now we can say Australia was also the birthplace of the three-meter Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), dispelling the long-held scientific hypothesis that it evolved from a smaller ancestor in isolation on the Indonesian islands. Over the past three years, we’ve unearthed numerous fossils from eastern Australia dated from 300,000 years ago to approximately four million years ago that we now know to be the Komodo dragon. When we compared these fossils to the bones of present-day Komodo dragons, they were identical. This research also confirms that both giant lizards, Megalania (Varanus priscus) and the Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), existed in Australia at the same time.<<<

Scoffers and the Last Days

Scoffers and the Last Days

by Ken Ham on January 17, 2017

We constantly hear from those who scoff at what we do at Answers in Genesis, the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter. They hate the message. Now, we should not be surprised that so many unbelievers scoff when we stand up for God’s Word because “men [love] darkness rather than light” (John 3:19).

In 2 Peter we’re warned that in the last days (since God’s Son became a man) there’d be scoffers mocking those who stand on the truth of God’s Word.

Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying,

“Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water (2 Peter 3:3–6

This passage tells us that scoffers in the last days will reject creation and Noah’s Flood—we certainly see that today with scoffers of the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. These scoffers “willingly forget” the truths of the history of God’s Word—they deliberately reject the truth despite obvious evidence.

But, in this same passage, God’s Word reminds us that He is long-suffering toward scoffers and not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9)—a reminder to pray for scoffers. Will you join us in praying for those who mock and scoff, that they will come to know the truth of God’s Word and the gospel?

Fame and Fortune Can’t Stop Death
The multitude of celebrity deaths in 2016 is a sad reminder that neither fame nor fortune can stop the inevitable, death, and the inevitability of standing before our Creator.

Genesis 5 says, “And he died . . . and he died . . . and he died”—death is inevitable, and it is vital to respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ now. The gospel is the most important message you will ever hear in this life!

Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ (Philippians 3:8).
Life is short, and we need to be “redeeming the time, because the days are evil ” (Ephesians 5:16). Salvation in Christ is vital!

Take heed those who reject Christ: “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27 ESV). Death is not the end: “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:36).

Those who reject God can’t avoid death, and life is meaningless without salvation: “So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household’” (Acts 16:31).

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Sharks Part 2

Sharks Part Two….

Ok, carrying on, the eye exam was not as bad as it usually is

…to quickly summarize, we are still working within the premise that God created ALL of the sea creatures on day 5 as stated in scripture, including all the different “shark kinds”… more or less all swimming around at the same time ( but remember, since Creation, “micro-evolution” [ limited change within a species ] has no doubt created variations of the original shark kinds created by God ) Ok….

So all of the above “prehistoric” sharks types have this incredle weirdness to them right? Weird fins, heads, bodies, teeth etc… they “appear” like they are right out of ancient past…

Like this guy: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicoprion who had what seems the weirdest teeth I have ever seen!

Looks like it makes sense right? Today’s sharks are so much more “normal looking” right? Like this Mako

or these guys…

Image result for great white

Here’s the rub.

There are many “weird”, “ancient” & “prehistoric” looking sharks alive today.

Here’s a few: Behold the living fossil “Frilled Shark”

Behold the Mega-Mouth! A living fossil ! >>> http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2014/03/12/a-forgotten-fossil-megamouth-gets-a-name/

The Ninja Lantershark

They look awful weird, old and ancient don’t they ? They are not. The Living fossil is the key.

Whats the the difference between all these sharks? Nothing!

We lost lots of “sharks” in the great flood, but some survived.

The only thing that is different is the PERSPECTIVE.

Imagine for for a second I took you to a cabin in the wild north when you were a baby and when you were 10 I showed you this picture. What would you think? What a wild shark!

It has a head like someone stepped on his head! How weird! You’ve be desensitized to the shapes. All these sharks lived with Adam.

Image result for hammerhead shark

We need to realine our perspective to correctly see sharks; the order we find them in the fossil record is the order they were buried during the flood.

Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures and let birds fly above the earth and the open expanse of the heavens.” And God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. And God saw that it was good and God blessed them saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters and the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” And there was evening, and there was morning the fifth day.

Just for fun…!

Keep this post ^^ in mind. The same thing can be said for many groups/kinds of creatures alive today.

Many creatures did not survive Noah’s flood, or the aftermath. Some did, even still to today.

Prehistoric Sharks Part 1

Check out this neat clip on “prehistoric” sharks.

Really weird looking creatures eh?

Stethacanthus >>> https://youtu.be/ndN2I0HfpoU

This is what you have been told right? That they look “old” “ancient” and “weird”, down right, “prehistoric”

Image result for prehistoric sharks

Well, what if I told you a new way to see the same creatures that agrees perfectly with Genesis?

Genesis tell us this about sharks.

The Fifth Day: Fish and Birds
20Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.” 21God created the great seamonsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and Godsaw that it was good. 22
God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

Many years later this happened:

Noah Builds the Ark

12God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. 13Then God said to Noah,“The end of all flesh has comebefore Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. 14“Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch.…

So, one could look at Genesis, hypothetically speaking, and imagine that God created everything very quickly, in just six days. Just as the text says. Suddenly, like water into wine. Suddenly like healing a cripple. Essentially, *poof* seas bursting with life of all unimaginable kinds of creatures.

Now imagine this new sea teeming with many KINDS of sharks, (still working from the premise that God created ALL the KINDS of sharks on day 5. Ok?)

Now as we saw summed up in post #783 we see there was a great die off on the planet. No kinds of creatures seemed to be immune from this disaster.

Found this here : http://evoluion.about.com/od/LifeOrigins/fl/The-Great-Dying-Explained.htm

>>>It is the worst mass extinctionever known in the history of the Earth. About 250 million years ago, an event that scientists call the “Great Dying” occurred. This horrible event that ended the Paleozoic Era and ushered in the Mesozoic Era on the Geologic Time Scale, wiped out nearly 96% of all species alive at the time. This mass extinction happened relatively quickly in the scope of the history of the Earth, as it only took about 60,000 for the mass extinction to be complete<<<

Umm sure sounds like this could be a massive global flood with the wrong time scale. Just saying.

Many species & kinds of creatures were wiped out for good. Sharks were no different. There population got hammered (pun intended ) during the flood. Many species got caught in the raging waters and were swiftly buried and became fossils. We today, call these sharks “prehistoric”, may I propose that they are not.

They are simply the species that have died out over the millennia; many [ most ] no doubt could not survive the year long flood or the oceans after the flood.

Think this sounds crazy?

Wait, don’t decide yet… there is more to the story.

See next post for conclusion.

The Great Dying

Doing a little reading on sharks tonight for an upcoming post

Stumbled on this statement from here http://sharkopedia.discovery.com/sha…storic-sharks/

>>>About 250 million years ago, life on Earth was flourishing … and then suddenly, what came to be known as the “Great Dying” occurred, wiping out roughly nine in 10 marine species and seven in 10 land species. Plants, insects, microbes, proto-mammals, fish — nothing was spared. While the cause is of the event is still unknown (although scientists think it was likely due to volcanic activity or climate change), what’s much more certain is that life on Earth nearly came to an END.<<

Ummm…what’s this sound like? [ a flood maybe? ] Things that make you go

From the same web site ( Discovery- Shark Week ) we find this little jewel of data on how we find shark fossils. To be honest I was shocked to read such a silly and clearly illogical statement, especially from a “mainstream” source, but I suppose it really should not surprise me.

What makes more sense to you? These sharks were RAPIDLY buried is a slurry of sediment, thus leaving an “impression” in the rock, or ( my emphasis )

Paleontologists study fossilized bones to learn how creatures evolved. But sharks don’t have bones; they have cartilage, which dissolves quickly in ocean water. Luckily, after some sharks died, their bodies lay on rocks, leaving a fossilized impression on the rocks. Studying these gives good clues about shark evolution.<<<
